Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need to pre-book a timeslot, or do you accept walk-ins?
We recommend booking in advance to secure your preferred time and avoid waiting. Walk-ins are welcome where capacity allows, but please note that availability can vary by location and time of day.
If we're fully booked, the next available walk-in slot may involve a wait or may not be available at all. Pre-booked guests are always given priority access.
To avoid disappointment or a long wait, we strongly suggest booking ahead, especially during weekends, holidays, or peak hours.
What time do I need to arrive? What happens if I am late?
Please arrive at least 5 to 10 minutes before your allocated time slot. If you arrive late, your entry will be dependent on the capacity at that time. This may result in an undefined waiting period or no entry to the venue.
I have an allocated time slot, why do I need to wait?
Our venue capacity is small, and we do not want to rush anyone when they are having a good time, so we do not limit the time inside. During the weekend and holidays, there may be a small wait. We do our best to adhere to the schedule and thank you for your understanding and patience.
Can I change my ticket?
Subject to availability, change of date and/or time are permitted up to 24 hours before the booking. You can change the date and/or time of your booking via the link in the email containing your tickets and selecting a new date and time. Changes within 24 hours of booking time are not permitted and in the event of no-show a refund will not be provided.
I booked the wrong location, what to do now?
If you have booked the wrong location, please contact us via email or live chat as a new booking will be required, subject to availability at the new location. If you arrive at the venue with tickets for the wrong location, subject to availability, your booking may be treated as a walk-in and a new time slot given and you may be asked to wait. Refunds are not provided for incorrect location bookings.
Can I purchase more tickets as part of my booking?
If you require additional people to be added to your booking, a new (separate) booking for additional tickets must be made and is subject to availability.
One or more people in my group can't make it, what can I do?
If a member of a group is not able to participate in a booked session, we can issue a voucher to be used another time. Unfortunately, for a booked session we are not able to issue refunds.
Do you accept Companion Cards?
We do accept companion cards, so the support workers can go in for free.
Please note that while we try to include everyone in this experience, we have to advise that the venue has a slanted floor and a narrow spiral staircase. High level of mobility is required. The furniture is also what we would normally call 'the ceiling', combined with the slanted floor, this can lead to dizziness and sensory overload. Please consider if this experience is right for you as we are not able to issue refunds. The venue is not wheelchair, pram or walker friendly.
I accidentally booked too many tickets — can I get a refund?
We may issue refunds for bookings made in advance and if we are notified of the error straight away, subject to approval from management. If we are notified 24 hours or less prior to the booking time, a refund will not be issued under any circumstances. Please note booking fees are not refundable which are 20% of the ticket price. More information is available on our refund policy.
Do I need to book before coming?
You can purchase tickets online or at the venue using EFTPOS. We do recommend booking a time slot to reduce wait time and potential disappointment.
What age group is suitable for this experience?
Everyone can experience their world upside down at House Down Under. Kids under 4 are welcome and enter free of charge (no booking required).
Will you sell out tickets?
We have not reached our daily capacity limit yet. We recommend to arrive earlier and book tickets in advance to avoid disappointment.
Can I bring my pram/wheelchair/walker inside?
Due to the unique tilted design of our venue, unfortunately it is not suitable for wheelchairs or prams.
The slanted floors that are not just incline but also sideways as well as the layout itself create an immersive upside-down experience, but they also make access challenging for mobility devices and strollers as high level of mobility is required. We apologise for any inconvenience and appreciate your understanding.
Do you charge for photos?
The entry fee includes all the photos on your device, we do not charge separately for this. We also have staff to assist you with some poses and snap a few photos of you and your group. Our staff rotate between different groups to make sure everyone has a good experience!
Where can I book tickets?
You can book tickets on our website by clicking Book Now or once you arrive at the venue.
Is there a difference between online bookings and buying at the venue?
Online bookings allow selection of the time slot. You can also choose to purchase tickets at the venue on arrival as we do accept walk-ins. There may be just a little wait while we make space for everyone!
Are you pet friendly and Guide/Service Dog Access?
Guide/Assistance/Service Animals with identification are allowed in the venue as long as it is deemed safe for the handler, dog and other visitors. Due to narrow hallways and small spaces, we may ask you to wait outside if there is someone already inside with an allergy or fear of dogs before allowing access.
We try to accommodate everyone to the best of our ability, including the furry family members! We do allow small pets in the venue assuming key requirements are met: they have to be carried in arms at all times and can only visit outside of our peak periods. No animals are allowed during peak periods such as holidays or weekends when the venue is busy.
What is a Virtual Queue?
Our venue uses a Virtual Queue for walk-in customers when all time slots have been sold out. This means that instead of having to physically stand in the queue, you are able to check-in and go about your day while you wait. We will send you a message letting you know it is your turn and to arrive back at the venue! Please ensure you return to the venue quickly so you do not miss your turn!
What is the normal wait time?
As we now offer time slots there is no long wait time. We still do not limit time inside and some groups take a little longer than expected so during peak periods some wait time is to be expected.
Can I get a refund?
Please read our Terms and Conditions and Refund Policy carefully. We do not have the ability to issue refunds, but can change the tickets to another date. You can reschedule your ticket to another day of your choice by following the link in your email.
How do I change my date?
Please follow the link in your ticket email that will allow you to change the date.
I have not received my tickets!
Please check your Junk or Spam folder in case our emails ended up there. If you still can't find anything, feel free to leave us a message or email us at tickets@housedownunder.com.au.
Don't worry if you haven't heard back from us yet, we can also look up your booking at the door. If your card was charged, that's great! We can use the transaction as proof of payment, as sometimes there may have been a typo in the email address.
How much time do I have/need inside?
We do not limit the time inside — take as long as you need! How long it takes you really depends on how many photos you would like to take! We do ask customers to be aware of others around them and move through the venue to ensure everyone gets a chance to take photos in all different parts of the house!
Do kids need supervision?
All kids under 12 must be supervised by an adult. This is done for safety purposes as we do not want anyone to get injured. Anyone running around, trying to or hanging from the furniture, grabbing onto furniture or props will be asked to leave immediately.
Do I need tickets for kids under 4?
Kids under 4 enter free and do not need a ticket!
What happens when it rains?
If there is a significant amount of rain, we will pull up a big tent over our entry and ticket office to keep everyone dry before entering the photo experience! The rest is all inside!
How long does it take to complete the tour?
House Down Under is a photo experience venue and we do not limit the time inside. Time taken depends on how many photos you would like to take. Most of our customers spend between 15 to 20 minutes inside but we have had some take over an hour! Take as long as you need to perfect those upside down poses and photos!
Is there parking available?
Our venues are conveniently located and are part of shopping centres. Parking is available at the shopping centre.
